Willingness to contribute regardless of the availability of a reward was studied by Benjamin Harding (2018, p. 18). The idea of the social flocking method is introduced as a way to minimize social loafing (Rappaport and colleagues, 2021). This method explains that it is effective because it matches individuals into groups based on schedule availability and willingness to devote time to the task (Francis, Smith, and Gardner, 2022). (Garcia & et all., 2013) found that individuals who intended to put in work, reported less free riding when matched with likeminded individuals.
