Topic: The Ethical Considerations of Genetic Editing in Humans
I plan to research the bioethics topic of genetic editing in humans, specifically focusing on the ethical dilemmas and considerations surrounding the use of genetic editing technologies like CRISPR-Cas9 on human embryos. This subject has personal significance to me since it has the potential to change medicine while also posing difficult ethical dilemmas regarding the limits of genetic modification and human interference with the natural cycle of life. I am particularly interested in exploring whether there should be limits on genetic editing and if so, what those limits should be, considering principles such as autonomy, beneficence, and non-maleficence in bioethics.
